DARSHAN S. SHAH

An engineer by profession, but a designer by passion, Darshan focusses on incorporating ergonomic and human-friendly design elements to tackle conventional problems.

A mechanical engineer from IIT Bombay, Darshan completed his PhD in Biomechanics from Imperial College London, UK and continued his research pursuit in Orthopaedic Engineering in Belgium. His research primarily focuses on employing engineering design to understand the mechanics of human joints, which includes the development of orthopaedic implants, prosthetic devices and physiological simulators. His research has been patented, presented at international conferences, and published in well-renowned international journals.

An avid traveller and photographer, Darshan loves to traverse the unexplored, non-touristy parts of the world and capture interesting architectural, cultural and natural marvels in his 'memory' card!

Over the last decade of his multidisciplinary research, Darshan has understood the equal importance of novelty and functionality in innovative design, and therefore, concentrates on creating unique, dynamic and modular elements at Rachayantra.
